Linux or not??
07th of September, 2004
Hey there all you simple folk. I know its been a long time since the last post but I fell into a bit of a... no no no a HUGE dilema!!
You see I've installed the Apache Server on my system in order to do server side stuff, it was wonrking perfectly until now that is. I don't know how or even why but I can't use it anymore and not only that I can't use any alternative server either!! Man this thing is the pits!
So anyway I go over to the Asylum and post my problem. A couple of guys reply and give these tons of suggestions. One of them also suggests I try Xitami an alternative to Apache. I did... no luck.
Then one of my friends on Yahoo! Messenger suggested I try Linux. I started to think, why not! I've always wanted to try it, but at the same time I was also very scared remembering my brother's past experience with the OS. You see he installed it in his system for a project of his, some networking/databases crap I don't know. So anyways, he installs it, Red Hat 7.2 that is, and it takes him about two whole weeks to learn how to activate the fily system! Now once he'd done that it was all downhill from there... until he had to remove it that is!
His project was over and now it was time to remove Linux from his system. You will not believe how long it took him just to get rid of it!! He'd stay up late late at night just to figure out how he can possibly uninstall the OS!! He eventually did get rid of it but Linux ate that entire partition it was in!!!
It's stuff like this that really give me the creeps. Should I or shouldn't I, I have no idea what to do. I checked out a couple of screenshots of Fedora a version of Linux and it seemed nice plus a lot of people have also suggested I try it I'll guess I'll have to do something! Althought I really want to fix my windows I know I've got tons more problems in it anyway but at the same time I want to use Linux! I could do a duel boot but... I don't know it's just too confusing right now!! I'll let you know on my progress. Until then of course I doubt there will be any additions to the site.
